How to Apply

Step 1: Check your deadlines

The closing date for all on-time international applications is the 1st of October 2019 for the School of Music (with the exception of students from the USA who have a deadline of 1st of December 2019), and the 31st of March 2020 for the School of Drama. We do not offer deferred entry – if you wish to commence in 2021, you must apply next year. The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s institution code on UCAS Conservatoires is R58.

Step 2: Check your entrance requirements

The minimum general entrance requirement for Undergraduate/Bachelor’s-level programmes is the successful completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent, or successful completion of the International Baccalaureate Diploma (minimum score of 24 with three subjects at Higher level). Postgraduate/Master’s-level applicants should possess (or be in the final year of) an appropriate undergraduate degree. A wide range of qualifications are accepted, including various international qualifications. If you would like to check the suitability of your qualifications, please email

Step 3: Complete your UCAS application

Applications for all programmes offered by Royal Conservatoire of Scotland must be made online through UCAS Conservatoires. Guidance on how to apply using this system can be found here.

Within the UCAS Conservatoires application, you will be able to select a variety of international audition locations as your preferred audition method. If you are unable to make a scheduled audition in your chosen location, please note that you are also able submit a recorded audition instead, and these recorded auditions (uploaded through Acceptd) are reviewed equally by the audition panel. No matter your method of audition, UCAS Conservatoires will collect both an application fee of £25 and audition fee which is £55 for programmes within the School of Dance, Drama, Production and Film and £65 for programmes within the School of Music.

Step 4: Complete your Acceptd application

Once you have completed your UCAS Conservatoires application, regardless of whether you are doing/have done a live audition or recorded audition, please go to Acceptd and submit an application via this also. Once you are on the homepage for RCS (, you can begin your application on the left-hand side of the page.

For those auditioning in North America, please select your program that is followed by ‘Audition in North America’ – for example, instead of choosing ‘BA Musical Theatre’, you would choose ‘BA Musical Theatre – Audition in North America’.

Please use Acceptd to upload all relevant supplementary information including a headshot and a completed speech form (if applicable). This platform will be used by the department based in Glasgow to review your recorded live audition and to view your uploaded supplementary material.

Step 5: Plan for your audition

After you submit your UCAS Conservatoires application, RCS will be in touch to schedule your live audition (unless you elected ‘Recording’ as your audition method). We will do our best to work around any pre-existing audition schedule conflicts you may have, but in order to do this you should submit your UCAS Conservatoires application as soon as possible. If you have a pre-existing conflict and cannot attend your audition at the assigned time, please contact us at / as soon as possible. Please consult our section Audition Requirements for more information on what to prepare for your audition.
